Pregnancy and postpartum are times of immense physical and emotional transformation. Dancing Thru Pregnancy & Postpartum (DTP5) is an evidence-based, movement-centered program that empowers women to feel strong, supported, and joyful through every stage of motherhood.

Now globally recognized and newly introduced in India through Soukyam Learning & Wellbeing, DTP5 brings together science, dance, and holistic care to support women’s health and wellbeing from pregnancy through postpartum recovery.

What is DTP5?

DTP5 (Dancing Thru Pregnancy across 5 life stages) is an initiative of the DTP Institute (founded by Ann Cowlin, Yale, 1979) that focuses on women’s health and wellbeing at five key stages:

  • Puberty & Adolescence
  • Pregnancy
  • Postpartum
  • Perimenopause
  • Post-menopause

Dancing Through Pregnancy (Antenatal)

Supporting women to feel stronger, calmer, and more connected through pregnancy.

What you’ll experience:

  • Gentle but effective workouts for strength, balance, and posture
  • Breathwork and relaxation practices to prepare for labor
  • Tools to reduce pregnancy discomforts (back pain, swelling, stiffness)
  • Confidence and body-trust through mindful movement
  • Partner sessions that nurture trust and shared support

Format:

  • 12 or 16-session series
  • Each session: 45 minutes of movement and mat work

DTP5 is grounded in decades of research:

  • Staying active with safe exercise during pregnancy helps lower the chances of high blood sugar (gestational diabetes) and high blood pressure.
  • Dancing while pregnant is a fun way to stay fit — and research shows it supports healthy weight gain and reduces the risk of early delivery.
  • Breathing and relaxation techniques calm the mind, reduce stress, and prepare the body for labour with more ease.
